Paula and Cam have been collecting LBE ceramics since 2023, infusing their home with a shared passion for design and nature. Based in Connecticut, Paula is LBE Design’s social media manager and brand designer. Their condo, nestled among the woods, reflects a minimalist boho aesthetic with a neutral palette and natural textures. Their collection of LBE planters adds warmth and character to the space, creating a tranquil, nature-inspired retreat.

Tell us about your first LBE planter. What drew you to it?

I was first drawn to the Round Two Planter, I thought it had such a unique silhouette, unlike anything I’d seen before. I was also really impressed by the color options, but ultimately chose the Oat finish. I love earthy, neutral tones, and at the time, we had just moved into our apartment. We were slowly collecting pieces to complement our living room decor, and The Round Two felt like the perfect fit.

How would you describe your plant and planter collection?

My husband is a plant lover, and caring for plants has truly become his full-time hobby. Through him, I’ve learned so much about different plant varieties and the environments they thrive in. We’re lucky to have a living room that gets a good balance of sunlight and shade, so we’ve been intentional about choosing plants that will really flourish in the space. Personally, I love a large statement plant, so large planters have been perfect for housing our bigger plants.

Do you have a favorite piece in your collection? Why does it stand out to you?

At first, I gravitated toward the more classic tones—whites and grays felt safe and easy to style. But as we’ve settled into our apartment and completed more of the decor, I’ve let go of the fear of adding pops of color. Right now, I especially love how our bird of paradise looks in the 12-Inch Mustard Ceramic Cylinder with Saucer. It adds such a vibrant, warm touch to the space and really brings the plant to life.

What role do plants and ceramics play in your home and daily life?

For us, plants really ground the space and bring in a sense of calm and connection to nature. Especially during the colder months, they add so much life and warmth. Paired with beautiful ceramics, they become both functional and decorative, anchoring the room while reflecting our style.

What’s your approach to styling your planters? Any go-to pairings?

I think it’s really important to be mindful of what your plant needs, especially when it comes to size and root space. I always make sure the planter isn’t too small so the plant has room to grow. I also think about whether I want the plant to sit closer to the ground or be more elevated. For larger plants, I love using the Solid Goods 15 Inch with Saucer—it’s great for providing optimal drainage, which is key since big plants can be trickier to water. For something a little shorter, like our elephant ear, I like using The Fourteen with Stand to give it some height and make it more of a focal point.

Do you have any plant care rituals or routines you love?

We have designated one or two days a week for watering, though that routine always shifts a bit depending on the season and each plant’s specific needs. But plant care goes beyond just watering, it’s about creating the right environment. I think what we really enjoy is staying in tune with our plants and adjusting as they grow.

Any tips for someone just starting their own LBE collection?

I’d suggest starting by thinking about your personal style, or the look you’re hoping to create. One of the things I love about LBE is how versatile the collections are. Whether your space leans more rustic and organic, clean and minimalist, or colorful and bohemian, there’s something that fits. I’d recommend choosing planters that align with that vibe, but also don’t be afraid to mix and match! Combining different shapes, finishes, and sizes can add so much character to your space.

What’s the latest addition to your plant or planter collection?

My latest order from LBE included a few new colors—I stepped out of my decor comfort zone and chose planters in Peachy Cotta and Olive. I wanted to add something fresh and unique.

Outside of plants and ceramics, what are a few things that inspire your home design?

I want our home to feel natural and peaceful, like a retreat from the outside world. I’m drawn to the calming effect of neutral tones. I also believe in the idea that less is more. Our space isn’t filled with a lot of things, but the pieces we do have are intentional and meaningful. At the end of the day, it’s about creating a space that feels like home to you. Somewhere that reflects your personality and makes you feel grounded.
